MECCHA CHAMELEON has full crossplay between Steam (PC) and Nintendo Switch 2 since September 9, 2026 — the day the Switch 2 version launched. A PC player and a console player join the same lobbies, the same matches, with no extra steps beyond the usual private-room code. The crossplay rollout arrived in the same update as the Kyoto and Art Museum maps, making September 9 the game's biggest post-launch day: new platform, new stages, unified lobbies.

Why you may still read "no crossplay" anywhere

Search results are polluted with pre-September articles. When the game was PC-only on Steam, "crossplay explained" pieces correctly answered "none — it is PC-only" (Times of India and G2A both published that version). After the Switch 2 launch, the correct answer flipped to "PC and Switch 2 yes; everything else no" — but the old articles still rank. What crossplay means for your group

For mixed PC/console friend groups, the practical checklist is short:

1. Everyone owns the game on their platform (see price — it is a separate purchase per store).

Troubleshooting mixed lobbies

Most "crossplay is broken" reports trace to version skew, not features:

1. Update both platforms. After a patch, lobbies form per version; a Switch 2 copy pending an update cannot see a Steam lobby on the new version (and vice versa).
2. Confirm the host settings. Mode, map and region filters behave identically cross-platform, but a password- or code-typed private room is the safest path for mixed groups.
3. Re-download custom maps from the host. A PC host updating a Workshop map invalidates the shared copy for console joiners — re-share it.
