MECCHA CHAMELEON runs on exactly two platforms today: Steam (PC), where it launched on June 9, 2026, and Nintendo Switch 2, which received a surprise release on September 9, 2026. The short history

The game launched on Steam on June 9, 2026 as a PC title from the two-person Japanese studio LEMORION (with co-creator Haganeiro) — and became 2026's breakout indie hit, passing 10 million copies and peaking around 340,000 concurrent players within weeks. Nintendo then surprise-dropped a Switch 2 edition immediately after the September 9, 2026 Nintendo Direct, complete with improved visuals, full crossplay with Steam, and two new maps (Kyoto and Art Museum) in the same update.

That surprise launch is also why the platform picture confuses people: articles written before September correctly said "PC-only", and many still rank in search results. The current truth is the table above.

What about everything else?

• PS5 and Xbox: no version exists and no port has been announced. Any "PS5 download" you encounter is fake or malicious — the PS5 & Xbox page covers the red flags.
• Mobile: there is no official iOS or Android app. The apps and APKs you will find are clones or fakes (one Google Play result is a different developer's game entirely); legitimate workarounds are cloud-streaming services. Details on the mobile page.

• Steam Deck: the Steam build is the same Windows PC game Deck users already play through compatibility tooling; expectations should stay modest, and specific Deck verification status is unconfirmed in official documentation.

Which platform should you buy on?

• You have a gaming PC: Steam is the full-featured home of the game — Workshop custom maps, the hosting path for community stages, and the largest player pool. Start at the price guide.
